How to store brandy?

Avoid Light and Maintain Constant Temperature
Excessive exposure to light and significant temperature fluctuations can accelerate changes in the liquor, causing the flavor compounds in the brandy to break down, resulting in faded flavors and color. Brandy should be stored in a dark, shaded place, and it is even recommended to use UV-protected wine cabinets. The temperature should not be too high or too low; room temperature is generally sufficient, with the optimal range being around 10-15°C.

Upright Storage
This is the main difference from storing wine. Why is this the case? Wine is stored horizontally to keep the cork moist with the wine, sealing potential gaps that might allow air to enter. However, the high alcohol content in brandy can corrode the cork, so brandy should not be stored horizontally. For unopened, well-sealed brandy, the upward evaporation of alcohol inside the bottle will keep the cork moist, achieving the same effect. If the bottle has been opened, it is recommended to tilt the bottle horizontally for half a minute to a minute periodically during storage to keep the cork well-moistened.

Clean Environment
If the environment where the brandy is stored is not clean, it may lead to microbial contamination, compromising the quality of the brandy. Brandy corks are made of natural cork, so it is important to ensure that the storage environment is free of any strong odors to prevent them from affecting the flavor of the liquor.
